Background of our Success
Early in GC Partners’ genesis we wanted to create more certainty and a point of difference in our approach and our processes for both our clients and ourselves. We appointed three senior and experienced people to our Advisory Board – one who had recently been an Investment Director from a leading venture Capital & Private Equity firm in Australia, one who had worked with Venture Capital and Private Equity firms for almost 30 years in California and a Partner of an International Management Consulting firm – to develop processes, systems and procedures for our business. Each of these people had also run their own businesses at different stages of their lives.
These Advisors were supported by a team of Australia’s leading MBA school graduates, the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM). These AGSM MBAs (our full time employees) worked with our Advisory Board over a 12 month period of intensive research, debate and preparation. The outcome was the complete documentation of all necessary systems and procedures in all parts of the transaction process necessary to achieve successful outcomes in financial transactions for small to medium sized businesses.
This process covered both fund raising and M & A. It also included Business Planning, Sales Planning and other intensive modules, including post merger integration. We even documented our financial model offering so that clients and investors could understand the value that this would bring to the transaction. These models allowed the calculation of DCF, IRR and other critical valuation techniques.
We also use proprietary templates for client requisitions, 1, 2 & 5 page Transaction Summaries, Information Memorandums, Power Point Presentations customised and personalised ultimately to the client’s specific needs and wishes.
These proprietary documentation templates allowed us to highlight and address the key points, concerns and issues that investors (whether trade or financial) focus on for their investment decisions. By highlighting these issues in the documentation process and working closely with the client where required we were able to deal with them in such a way that we gave our clients ceertainty.
These systems and processes have been used successfully for many years. Regular reviews are undertaken to ensure that we remain in the “best of breed”. These systems and procedures also allow us to work faster and with more accuracy reducing time wastage and producing an outstanding outcome. Combined with GC Partners long experience, detailed research, staff selection processes and training, GC Partners is able to offer its clients a premium service, with certainty and providing excellent value for money.
